Japan

Flag of the Red CrossImage via Wikipedia     It's only March & yet the world has changed so dramatically this year. Dictators have been overthrown & some are in the process of being overthrown. Now, Japan has gone through a mega disaster. It's not enough to just have one of the largest earthquakes in history. It also had one of the largest tsunamis & now nuclear plants are beginning to (hopefully not) go into meltdown. Oh yeah, it's still winter there so add hypothermia to the mix. The only disasters that Japan hasn't had in the past couple of days are tornadoes & hurricanes. My prayers go out to the Japanese people. They are such good & smart people & I know they'll get through this with everyone's help.
If you can, please give to the Red Cross or Red Crescent in your country. You can also find out more ways to help through Twitter & Facebook (there's actually good use for those other than saying what you had for dinner, complete with photo). For coverage online, UStream.com has streaming coverage of one of the Japanese cable news channels: NHK World http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nhk-world-tv.
