Red Shoe Diaries - An Appreciation

Image via WikipediaI realized in writing this post about Red Shoe Diaries earlier in the day that I should add in more of my thoughts about the series and the man who created it: Zalman King. Zalman King was responsible for 3 of the most erotic movies ever: Wild Orchid, 9 1/2 Weeks (those 2 I'll cover in later erotic movie posts), and Red Shoe Diaries.

When I was coming out of college and just developing my sexual style, those movies, especially Red Shoes, heavily influenced me. When I first saw Red Shoes as a series on Showtime, I became obsessed and entranced. I patterned everything about my sexual being from it. It influenced the music I listen to when having sex, which is mainly music from Delerium, Enigma, and groups like that. The sexy kinky things that I do were picked up from Red Shoes; everything from blindfolds to handcuffs to whips to candles and silk gloves.

Erotic Movie of the Week - Red Shoe Diaries

Image via Wikipedia     This week's erotic movie isn't really a movie. It's the 90s Showtime television series Red Shoe Diaries. This classic Zalman King soft porn series (Zalman King is considered a master of erotica. We'll probably do quite a few of his movies eventually) started as a single movie starring David Duchovny; a man wronged by his fiance, who has an affair and kills herself. He finds her diary, which sets him on a hunt for other women's stories so that he can better understand what happened in his own. There are many DVDs and streams on Netflix that have 3 or 4 of the television episodes on them. Plus, you'll recognize a few of the actors who guested on them. Matt Leblanc did an episode well before he started on Friends. Joan Severance was on there as well. It was a great series and yes, a movie as well. Here's the trailer:

A Few Notes

Wow. When I first started writing this blog, I didn't think it would be that popular. I actually had to be talked into it by a woman who thought I'd have some good stories to tell. After thinking it over for a couple of months, I decided to do it, even though I contribute to 6 other blogs on various subjects. In the span of just over a week, it's become almost more popular than almost all the other blogs I write for COMBINED!! I guess sex DOES sell, even when it's written from a male point of view.
It's mainly because of the fact that I'm doing a lot of other writing (not to mention having a full time career that I love & living life in general) that my stories tend to be broken up into parts. I have precious little time to write this one as it is. It's mainly a release (for lack of a better word) for me.
Another reason is that if I were to write the story in one continuous blog, it would make for one extremely long blog. As it is, it may be too long already. I'm not sure. I may have to adjust.
A third reason is because, much like my sex, I hate quickies. When I'm with you, I want it a long time. Sex & reading about it should be like a fine meal, not like fast food. It should be savored & devoured, peeling back layer after layer to build up the anticipation so that when you get to the end, you're nourished & satisfied; not let down. Plus, it should leave you wanting more.
I read some of these other blogs & get extremely disappointed. A lot of them tend to be like "I saw him/her & fucked him/her in so & so position. The end." How boring. Every once in a while a quickie's nice but even then, it better be worth my time. I'm investing a small part of my life reading so entertain me. Don't spend 5 paragraphs telling me about how you hate what the guy/girl had on but you decided to fuck him/her anyway, then spend 2 lines going "and then we fucked. Done". WTF?! No. That's just a big cock tease & if there's one thing I hate, it's a cock teaser. I'm just a guy who likes the details.
The way I write is the way I like my sex; erotically. I fuck less like porn & more like Red Shoe Diaries (if you don't know what Red Shoe was, Netflix it. It was a great soft porn series with some hot stories that always left you wanting more). I'd like my writing to be more like that. I'm working on it.
I'll probably keep writing my stories in parts so there are 2 choices, I guess. You can either read the blog probably once or twice a week & scroll through the whole story or you can check in every day & get your appetite wet (among other parts of your body) for the next part. Either way, I hope you've enjoyed the stories so far & will continue to read them. I never knew how good sharing my sex life with others could be.
